WELCOME TO NEW MISSION

Home of the Mighty Titans!

We empower all students to develop into critical thinkers and lifelong learners to better themselves, their futures, and their community. We prepare our students to do well in and for the world.

Our core experiences include project-based portfolios, early college pathways, advanced placement coursework, internships, senior research capstones, and essential life skills that support the readiness and agency necessary to thrive in post-secondary pursuits.

New Mission (NM) is a Boston public high school serving 740 students and families from the diverse neighborhoods of Hyde Park, Mattapan, Dorchester, Roslindale, Roxbury, Jamaica Plain, and West Roxbury. NM is the highest performing BPS high school that is not an exam school. In 2013, NM was named a Blue Ribbon school. In 2015, NM earned Silver status in the US News and World Report for Best High Schools. In 2017, NM was designated  a National Title I Distinguished School. NM is a level-one school in the state ranking system and has been continually recognized as one of the top schools for growth on MCAS and academic achievement.

NM was founded based on the common principles of the Coalition of Essential Schools, which include "Learning to Use One Mind's Well," "Personalization," and "student-as-worker / teacher-as-coach." As a pilot school, NM is an innovative, autonomous school that strives to enroll students representative of the larger district and to support students in reaching their intellectual and personal potential. Our goal is to create a caring, individualized, and rigorous education for all students, so that they can "do well in the world and do well for the world," according our school's mission statement.
